UTMs and Subids: track by your own dimensions

IzeAds attributes every sale to the click that generated it. UTMs tell us which campaign, ad set and ad the click came from — and subids (sub1 to sub10) are 10 extra slots for YOUR own dimensions: creative angle, audience, landing page, affiliate, anything you want to measure. Everything you tag becomes a filter and a group-by in the Pivot report, crossed with revenue, CPA and ROAS.

The standard UTM template

This is the template IzeAds uses. Meta replaces the {{...}} macros at click time with the real campaign/ad set/ad names and IDs:

utm_source=metaads&utm_campaign={{campaign.name}}|{{campaign.id}}&utm_medium={{adset.name}}|{{adset.id}}&utm_content={{ad.name}}|{{ad.id}}&utm_term={{placement}}

How to set it up

1

Creating campaigns through IzeAds? Nothing to do.

The campaign wizard injects the template above automatically into every ad. Every click arrives already tagged.

2

Creating campaigns in Ads Manager? Paste the template once.

Copy the template above into the "URL parameters" field of the ad (Ad level → Tracking). It works for every ad you duplicate from there.

3

Add your subids

Append your own dimensions to the same field, e.g. &sub1=hook-pain&sub2=broad-audience&sub3=vsl-page. Use Meta macros if you prefer dynamic values: &sub1={{ad.name}}.

4

Analyze in Reports → Pivot

Group by sub1–sub10, cross them with device, placement or geo, and see clicks, sales, revenue, CPA and ROAS per slice.

Recommended convention

Subids are free-form — what matters is being consistent. A convention that works well for direct response operations:

  • sub1 — creative angle (e.g., hook-pain, hook-curiosity)
  • sub2 — audience (e.g., broad, lookalike-1pct, retargeting)
  • sub3 — landing page / funnel step (e.g., vsl-a, quiz-b)
  • sub4 — affiliate or influencer name
  • sub5+ — free for tests (e.g., promo, batch, angle variation)

Meta macros save typing

Anything between {{ }} is filled by Meta at click time: {{campaign.id}}, {{adset.id}}, {{ad.id}}, {{ad.name}}, {{placement}}, {{site_source_name}}. Combine them with fixed values in your subids.

Non-Meta sources

For Taboola and other native networks, choose the matching Traffic Source preset in IzeAds — native parameters (zoneid, siteid) are translated to subids automatically, no manual tagging needed.

External funnels (Telegram, WhatsApp)

When the click leaves the web (bots, groups), route the ad through an IzeAds /go link. The click is registered with all subids before the visitor is forwarded — so the sale can still be tied to the exact click later.
